Angelika Chernych Rostov Püchner donated a bassoon model Jubilee to the special prize winner of the First International Competition for bassoon of the State Conservatory P.I. Tchaikowsky Moscow in November 2009

Under the patronage of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the bassoon competition, instigated and organised through Prof. Valery Popov, successfully took place in November 2009. Püchner had pleasure in donating a special prize presenting a “Jubilee model Püchner bassoon” to a deserving competitor of the First Moscow Conservatory International competition for bassoon. The criteria for awarding this special prize to a competitor, was “a performer, who shows much talent and great potential, as well as apparent financial need.”

Due to the high standard of the competitors it was not easy to nominate a winner of this special prize, however, finally the decision was made based on the given critera and the Püchner bassoon went to Angelica Chernykh from Rostow on Don.

The motivation of the jury members was: “Angelica Chernych (born 1990) from Rostov, it is true, was unsuccessful in reaching the final round of the competition, however she showed in the first two rounds, as well as in the master class, enormous potential. It is the opinion of the jury that Angelica's bassoon is the worst instrument that has been witnessed in an international solo competition. The jury is therefore persuaded that with this new Püchner Jubilee model bassoon, Angelika will go on to perform to an extremely high professional standard.”

Angelica Chernykh was born 1990 in Rostow on Don in a family of musicians. At the age of 4 years she began piano lessons. At nine year old she started bassoon lessons at the Rostow Music Conservatoriy with Prof. V.A. Leonow. The next year, in 2000 she was the first prize winner of the regional competition for children on wind instruments in Rostov on Don. Several prizes followed: 2003 First prize at the Youth-competition (Rostov on Don), 2005 first prize winner at the First Open South Russian Youth competition. At the age of 15 she began studies at the Academy of the Rostow with E.V. Manuilovas followed by V.A. Leonow. 2007 Angelica achieved the first prize at the International competition-festival of the city of Mariupol. After high school in 2009 she was accepted to study with Prof. VA Leonows at the State Academy “Sergej Rachmaninow”. In the same year Angelica participated at the First International Competition of the Moscow Conservatorium for wind instruments and achieved the special price instrument donated by Püchner.

The Püchner family heartily congratulates Angelica and wishes her every success in her artistic development, giving inspiration to other bassoonists of the Russian Federation.
