| Instructions
for maintenance for bassoon |
| Do not put the instrument keyside-down on
your knees as water may go into the tone holes. |
| Swab the instrument through after each
playing. Please use the pull-through swab with weight for the boot
joint and leave it a while at the bottom thus allowing the swab to
soak in the water. |
| Do not lay your instrument down without
having swabbed it through. Leave it upright instead. |
| Use a clarinet reed under the key of the
Ab tone hole in order to help to dry it. |
| Keep the case open overnight. |
| Oil the bore of the joints without rubber
lining about once a month. Use linseed oil, not paraffin oil. |
| Oil the tone holes (without tubes)
regularly |
| Keep the tone holes clean. Clean
toneholes once in a while (about four to five times a year) with a soft piece
of wood. |
| Keep your bassoon case free clean and
free of dust. |
| Good care and maintenance preserves the
quality and reliability of your bassoon! |
