First prize at the renowned “Dong-A Music Competition” in Seoul
The young Korean bassoonist Pyo Kyu-Sun has won the much coveted prize of the renowned
“Dong-A Music” competition, an event which took place in Seoul in October 2007.
In the first round Bach's A minor Partita and Baedecker's Sonata Sopra “La Monica”
were performed and the obligatory pieces for the 2nd round were Gordon
Jacob's “Partita” for solo bassoon and Bitsch's “Concertino”.
The performance of the Jolivet Concerto was the deciding piece in the final round. First prize at the International Competition for woodwind quintets in MarseilleThe woodwind quintet “Modus Vivendi” of Moscow is the first prize winner of the international competition “Concours international de quintettes à vent”, an event which took place in Marseille in March 2007. The quintet’s oboist Anastasja Tabankova is performing on a Püchner oboe model 733 C. The bassoonist Ilja Kaschtan is playing a Püchner bassoon model 23. Both are principal woodwind players of the Russian State Academic Symphony Orchestra Moscow. We warmly congratulate them!
